Andrew Kane, Ph.D. Corporate Faculty (ISIT)
My journey into studying Information Technology began in the early 80s when my family purchased an Atari game station and then a Commodore 64 computer. Later, I took a typing class in High School, and this enabled me to work -and get paid- for data entry. This felt like a major accomplishment in 1986. While studying at the College of New Jersey, I worked as a lab technician in the music department’s computer lab.
After college, I was hired as a ‘Junior Administrator’ at Merrill Lynch in NJ. This is when I began to study for IT Certifications. I passed the CompTIA A+, Net+, & Security+. I also passed six or seven Novell certifications and became a CNE -Certified Novell Engineer-. Then I passed the Microsoft Server Certification and Cisco’s CCNA.
After Merrill Lynch, I worked in the Philadelphia area as a consultant teaching IT Certifications at many area tech schools. After moving to Philadelphia, I was hired as a Network Administrator for DHS. I worked in Center City for DHS from 2003 until 2009 when I thought it was time for a change. DHS helped me secure a job as an instructor at City College and I worked there until 2013 when I was hired at ITT-Tech, also in Center City Philadelphia.
In 2018, I was hired by Drexel University as an Associate Professor for their Computing and Informatics Department. I worked there for six years until I was hired at Harrisburg University’s Philadelphia location.
