At Harrisburg University, experiential learning lies at the heart of the University’s mission.

Harrisburg University students complete internships with partner companies like Microsoft, Google, and Deloitte, to name a few, giving them real-world experience that makes all the difference when they enter the workforce. By requiring every student to complete a 135-hour internship and senior project, the University provides optimum real-world experience to students. The result? 92 percent of our undergraduate students are employed in their fields of study or are enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduation.

HU Biotechnology Major Aalliyeh Clinton has landed an internship this summer with aerospace and defense technology company Northrop Grumman.

This internship marks Clinton’s second stint with Northrop Grumman. In fact, her interest in Biotechnology began during a two-year program for high school students offered by the company. Throughout her involvement in the program, Clinton gained experience by completing a project for the company and presented her work to peers and officials of the company.

At the end of her experience, Northrop Grumman awarded Clinton a four-year scholarship so she could complete her Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology with a Nanobiotechnology focus.

This summer, Clinton is completing an internship rotation with Northrop Grumman. Throughout her internship, she will have multiple opportunities to work on real business challenges, utilizing cutting-edge nanotechnologies, attend professional development, training, and networking events.

HU congratulates Clinton and all of our other students who have been accepted into internship programs this summer.

“The Experiential Learning Program is a crucial part of the HU Experience.  Through participation in Experiential Learning, students are able to gain valuable experiences through applying classroom knowledge in the real world and develop the skills crucial to the job market today,” said Rebekah Harriger, HU’s Experiential Learning Coordinator. “When our students complete internships, not only are they gaining competencies and skills, they are able to interact with professionals in an external organization to explore career options related to their program of study.”
