Assistant for Records & Registration

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology invites candidates to submit their interest in the Assistant for Records and Registration position. This non-exempt, part-time position reports to the Director of Records and Registration and works closely with other university professionals to evaluate transfer credit, create the Schedule of Classes, and maintain accurate student records.

The position requires a minimum of three years of undergraduate study in education, business, information systems, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Other requirements are experience working with large database applications, experience using Microsoft Office Suite, and proficiency in report generation using structured query language and/or reporting tools such as InfoMaker, Crystal Reports, or Microsoft Access. Prior experience in a college setting is necessary, preferably in a Registrar’s office.

The ideal candidate will possess strong professional communication skills, and knowledge of FERPA as it relates to students. Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial setting essential. Demonstrated high level of customer service in high volume, fast paced, environment is critical.

Corporate Faculty in Mathematics Sought at Harrisburg University

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology seeks qualified, potential corporate faculty members in the Math program to teach undergraduate-level courses in College Algebra in the Fall 2011 Semester. The university is seeking highly qualified willing to teach at our Harrisburg and Lancaster locations. A doctorate is preferred but individuals with an MBA with significant professional experience in the subject matter and an interest in teaching are encouraged to apply.

Our current needs are for our Math 120 course, which is a 3 credit course intended for the student with an elementary knowledge of algebra. Topics include properties of real numbers, problem-solving using equations and inequalities, the theory of algebraic functions, graphing, systems of equations and inequalities, polynomial functions and graphs, exponents and radicals, the binomial theorem, zeros of polynomials, inverse functions, and applications and graphs. Other topics selected from sequences, series, and complex numbers may be covered including the study of functions equations and graphs with emphasis on linear, quadratic and exponential functions.

Admissions Counselor

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology invites candidates to submit their interest in the Admissions Counselor position. This non-exempt, full time position reports to the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Systems.

This professional will be responsible for recruiting prospective high school students from a defined recruitment territory and managing the contact with those students. This position will involve travel to college fairs, high schools, and businesses, and will involve a considerable amount of public speaking. In addition, the person will conduct information sessions both off-site and on campus for prospective students in group and individual settings.

The position requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and experience in recruiting, sales, or admissions is a plus.

University Librarian

Harrisburg University of Science & Technology invites applications for an entrepreneurial, multi-faceted, and service-oriented information professional. This position, reporting directly to the Office of the Provost, offers exceptional opportunities in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a wide-range and responsive and innovative library service.

Responsibilities

  1. Information Literacy. Provide leadership in developing a comprehensive information literacy program across the curriculum and in using multiple technologies to integrate information literacy instruction into general education and programs. Work with Director of Learning Assessment to implement institutional assessment of information literacy, a University-wide learning outcome.
  2. Collection-Building, Content Management, and Database Licensing. Work collaboratively with faculty and other key constituents to develop, coordinate, and organize all electronic and print collections (including learning objects and media) supporting a science and technology curriculum. This responsibility also includes the selection and procurement of new databases, electronic journals and books or other electronic information resources and the development of consortia agreements with other institutions.
  3. Technology Across the Curriculum. Contribute to the University’s technology and learning mission in conjunction with faculty, the Office of Information Services, and the Director of Learning Technologies. A boundary-spanning individual with a background in web development, learning technologies, or media is welcomed.
  4. Partnerships, Outreach, and Collaboration. Provide entrepreneurial leadership by developing collaborative internal and external relationships in grant-writing, program development, or consortia buying agreements. Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with faculty, students, technologists, curriculum design specialists, vendors, and members of library consortia.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree in librarianship or information science from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Minimum of three to four years academic, corporate, or special library experience
  • Thorough understanding of information literacy and enthusiasm for playing a role in the development of a highly integrated and relevant university-wide program
  • Ability to develop and to deliver instructional sessions for faculty, students, and other constituents
  • Experience developing and publishing web-based resources for reference, instruction, or other service delivery
  • Experience with collection development, content management, and/or database licensing (including vendor relations)
  • Strong technical orientation, especially with emerging web technologies
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with colleagues, students, faculty and staff in a rapidly changing multicultural environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility in adapting to change
  • Experience with or potential for internal or external partnering
  • Experience with integrated library systems cataloging or circulation modules

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of science and technology faculty and students’ information needs and the application of information technologies in serving these populations

Learning Technologies Production Coordinator

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology invites candidates to submit their interest in the Learning Technologies Production Coordinator position. This exempt, full-time position reports to the Director of Learning Technologies. In collaboration with the Director of Learning Technologies and the Director of CAE&LT, this position will design and implement learning projects and courses aimed at supporting growth in both areas.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and four to six years experience in instructional technology.  Qualifications include experience in designing, writing and developing instructional materials for digital delivery, excellent project management skills, public speaking abilities, and interactive development with Adobe Flash and ActionScript 2+.  Experience in K-12 teaching, graphic design, HTML, JavaScript, Moodle, and Distance Learning  are preferred but not required.
