HU+U: Scholarships & Grants Make An HU Education A Reality

Is it possible to earn free money for the good grades you earned in high school? Yes, if you attend Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. HU is simplifying the scholarship process and awarding scholarships on this straightforward basis: $20,000 for a 3.8 high school GPA, $10,000 for a 3.3 GPA, $8,000 for a 3.0 GPA, and $6,000 for a 2.7 GPA. Graduates from any Dauphin County School District, Harrisburg School District, Baltimore School District, Washington D.C. School District or Philadelphia School District may quality for a full-tuition scholarship. Additional scholarships are available for PA state employees, and need-based grants are available for all students. Recent graduates of Harrisburg Area Community College can qualify for full tuition scholarships. Other transfer students can earn scholarships ranging from $8,000 to full-tuition for their grades. A list of merit-based scholarships and need-based grants are below, as well as the simple steps you need to take to qualify.

Undergraduate Scholarships & Grants

Harrisburg Partnership Scholarship Awarded to recent graduates from Harrisburg School District enrolling full-time in a degree program at HU. Applicants must apply for all state and federal grants before their respective deadlines. Interview may be required. Must apply by May 1st prior to fall semester. International students are not eligible for this scholarship.Full tuition less all federal and state grants and first $3,500 in federal loans.

Harrisburg Strong Scholarship Up to eight (8) scholarships awarded to recent graduates from any Dauphin County School District enrolling full-time in a degree program at HU. Applicants must apply for all state and federal grants before their respective deadlines. Interviews may be required. Must apply by May 1 prior to fall semester.International students are not eligible for this scholarship. Full tuition less all federal and state grants and first $3,500 in federal loans.

Philadelphia Partnership Scholarship Up to twenty (20) scholarships awarded to recent graduates with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.7 from Philadelphia School District enrolling full-time in a degree program at HU. Applicants must apply for all state and federal grants before their respective deadlines. Interviews may be required. International students are not eligible for this scholarship. Full tuition less all federal and state grants and first $3,500 in federal loans.

Baltimore Partnership Scholarship Awarded to recent graduates from Baltimore City School District with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.7 or higher who are enrolling full-time in a degree program at HU.  Applicants must apply for all state and federal grants before their respective deadlines.Full tuition less all federal and state grants and first $3,500 in federal loans.

DC Partnership Scholarship Awarded to recent graduates with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.7 or higher from Washington, D.C. School District enrolling full-time in a degree program at HU.  Applicants must apply for all federal grants and the DC-CAP Award before their respective deadlines.Full tuition less all federal and DC-CAP grants.

Trustees' Scholarship Eligible students will have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.80 or above based on a 4.00 scale.Applicants must apply for all state and federal grants before their respective deadlines. Renewable after first year with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 or higher; otherwise renewable as a Presidential Scholarship with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or higher. International students are not eligible for this scholarship.$20,000 (per year) less all federal and state grants.

Presidential Scholarship Awarded to full-time undergraduates with a high school GPA of 3.30 or above based on a 4.00 scale. Renewable after first year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or higher. $10,000 (per year).

Provost Scholarship Awarded to full-time undergraduates with a high school GPA of 3.00 or above based on a 4.00 scale. Renewable after first year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or higher. $8,000 (per year).

HU Merit Scholarship Awarded to full-time undergraduates with a high school GPA of 2.70 or above based on a 4.00 scale. Renewable after first year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or higher. $6,000 (per year).

Harrisburg University Grant Awarded to full-time students enrolling in an undergraduate degree program. Based on financial need. $500 to $4,000 (per year).

Maryland Scholars Grant Awarded to Maryland residents attending Harrisburg University. Based on financial need. Up to $4,000 (per year).

New Jersey Scholars Grant Awarded to New Jersey residents attending Harrisburg University. Based on financial need. Up to $4,000 (per year).

Capital Area Science Fair Champion Scholarship Awarded to the champion of the Capital Area Science Fair for the first year. Non-renewable. $8,000 (one year only).

State Employees and Educational Partners Scholarship Awarded to part time (3 - 11 credits per semester) undergraduate students who are State Employees or employees of an educational partner of HU. International students are not eligible for this scholarship. Must reapply each year. $750 (per semester).


Transfer Student Scholarships & Grants

Transfer Presidential Scholarship Awarded to students transferring from another accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher. $10,000 (per year).

Transfer Provost Scholarship Awarded to students transferring from another accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.$8,000 (per year).

HACC Partner Scholarship Up to twelve (12) scholarships awarded to recent graduates of Harrisburg Area Community College. Applicants must apply for all state and federal grants before their respective deadlines. Interviews may be required. International students are not eligible for this scholarship. Full tuition less all federal and state grants and first $3,500 in federal loans.

Philadelphia Degree Completion Scholarship Up to twelve (12) scholarships awarded to recent graduates of Philadelphia/Delaware Valley area community colleges or graduates with an associate degree from regionally accredited University in Philadelphia/Delaware Valley. Applicants must apply for all state and federal grants before their respective deadlines. Interviews may be required. International students are not eligible for this scholarship.Full tuition less all federal and state grants and first $3,500 in federal loans.

Advancing with Information Technology Scholarship Up to eight (8) scholarships awarded to transfer students with Associates Degrees in a Technology Field related to the degrees offered at HU and three years of work experience in a related field. Interviews may be required. Renewable. $15,000 (per year).

Harrisburg University Grant Full-time transfer students enrolling in an undergraduate degree program. Based on financial need. $500 to $4,000 (per year).

Phi Theta Kappa Membership Scholarship. Awarded to full-time undergraduate transfer students enrolled in a degree program at HU who are members of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. This scholarship may stack with the Transfer Merit Scholarship. $8,000 (per year).


**Scholarships and grants noted below are for first-year, full-time degree-seeking undergraduate applicants and transfer students for Fall 2015 unless otherwise noted in the criteria. There may be additional eligibility requirements for each scholarship or grant. Students may receive only one HU scholarship which are non-stackable, unless otherwise indicated.   1. Apply free online at www.HarrisburgU.edu/apply.
  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the web at www.FAFSA.ed.gov. The FAFSA is used to determine your eligibility for federal, state and institutional aid.
  3. Include HU's school code (039483) when completing the FAFSA so we can evaluate your eligibility for the maximum amount of financial aid.
