Research & Centers

Our University is home to several distinctive centers that are transforming science and technology education nationally and providing learning opportunities for our students. Those Centers including the National Center for Science and Civic Engagement (NCSCE), and the Center for Advanced Entertainment and Learning Technologies (CAELT).

The NCSCE, which develops, implements, and evaluates activities and projects that encourage and strengthen the efforts of colleges and universities to reform undergraduate education, especially in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The signature program of the center is Science Education for New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities (SENCER), a project funded by the National Science Foundation. SENCER promotes greater engagement of undergraduates with the sciences in institutions of higher education in the US and selected other countries.

Thanks to a collaborative partnership with Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center and The Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania. Students and faculty from both CMU and HU work side-by-side on Synthetic Interviews Software Technology projects.
