This graduate certificate provides a focused overview of the variety of skills and roles of the IT project manager. The program offers professionals the opportunity to develop the technical and management skills to run projects with confidence—knowing they are following the profession’s best practices. Participants learn the basic techniques involved in project management methodologies, from setting goals and objectives, through managing the selection of IT support products and procurement. Participants utilize the essential project management technologies as they build a project plan from initation to project assessment and closure. Central to project management is people management, and participants practice the critical communications, leadership and team building skills that lead to project success.

The program addresses the critical components of procurement and risk management, and partipants practice standard strategies to minimize risk and manage outside vendors.

Courses from this 12-credit certificate can be applied toward completion of the Master’s Degree in IT Project Management and provide preparation for the PMP project management certification. Classes at the University’s downtown Harrisburg campus are offered in an 8-week accelerated format, allowing participants to complete the program in nine months. Tuition deferral is available for participants using employee tuition reimbursement plans.
