Alan McConnell is Director of the Food Science & Technology Center at Harrisburg University. The Center provides food industry professionals with strategic development opportunities for career advancement; sensory evaluation and consumer insights research for product development; and focused consulting to solve problems and discover opportunities related to food processing and distribution. Alan has over 20 years experience serving the food processing industry as a technical consultant, food safety instructor, laboratory director, and quality control manager. His specialties include: food chemistry and microbiology, Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) compliance, sanitation, HACCP, and product and process troubleshooting and improvement. Prior to joining Harrisburg University, Alan served as Senior Food Industry Technical Specialist with PennTAP at Penn State University. He holds a B.S. in Plant Science, and a M.S. in Food Science, both from Penn State University.

CIRL Research Coordinator
Pam Ibric
A 2011 graduate of Harrisburg University of Science and Technology Biotechnology Program, Pam coordinates the consumer insights research activities of the CIRL. She is responsible for research project implementation, subject recruitment, and study reporting. Pam also facilitates the student experiential learning opportunities available within the laboratory.
